The Dear Leader’s A$$

Ted Cruz along with some Texas Congressmen have come down on Bill Barr for saying that there has been no discernible fraud in the 2020 elections. Bill Barr has been the Republican’s go to guy since he got the job. Now they are throwing him under the bus.

So many lawsuits have been filed and thrown out it’s hard to keep count. Now Pennsylvania Republicans are asking the Supreme Court to reverse the states certification of the election. This because they say Pennsylvania unconstitutionally allowed no excuse mail in voting. They didn’t bother when the change was made more than a year ago, Only came up with the idea when their Dear Leader lost an election.

Do you really think that all these minions really think that the election was a fraud? No they are just thinking how they can save their Dear Leader’s Ass. They are afraid the Republican Party will wither and die if their worst nightmare is true. They must suck up to the party’s leader as if they were tied to his future. They are. If he goes down kicking and screaming and then groveling and crying, they go too. And good riddance to all the sniveling little brats. Let them take their ball and go home. The writing in on the wall, less and less people want them around.

The Dear Leader teases that he will run again in 2024. It may be hard to do if he is in jail. We can only hope that he gets his just due. Actually the best thing would be for him to become poor and have to rely on the Democratic administration to get his food stamps (do they take food stamps at KFC?).

As we get down to 50 days until the inauguration we see the Orange Nightmare fading and Blue skies covering our country again.

Thanks

2020. What a year! Here are some of things that I am thankful for this year. No particular order, just a stream of consciousness.

Thanks to all the hard working, dedicated front line workers throughout the world. Without them where would we be? Add in my thanks to the particular doctors and nurses that took care of my cousin and got him through a tough surgery and recovery. And thanks to his wife for taking care of him and keeping the family informed.

Thanks for my friends and family being in good health and going strong. My wife and kids have been my rock through a tough year. With the loss of my mother and my dog within a few days of each other, having them around eased the pain.

And speaking of my mother, thanks for the 93 years she shared with the world. She is missed by all her knew her. She will not be forgotten. Thanks to her for the 66 plus years she spent with me.

Thanks for bringing a new grandson into my life. I couldn’t be luckier than to have my granddaughter and grandson. My daughter and son-in-law have made me the happiest Pop in the world.

Thanks to voters of America for turning out in record numbers to decide an election that may save American democracy. While the country is still divided we now can start to repair the damage caused by the current administration. The world will once again be impressed by what America can accomplish.

Thanks for all that I have; family, friends and good health. Without any of the three life would not be the same. And thanks to all of you who read my gibberish and say good things about it. I know some of you are just being nice, but I hope I touch your lives in some way. Maybe leave you thinking just a little different.

Let’s go out and 2021 a great and satisfying year.

A Change Is Due

The upcoming election is an opportunity for all of us to change the face of our country. For too many years, since our founding and even before, systemic racism has ruled our lives. This has been the building block of our society. Now is the time for change. No, one election is not going to bring the winds of change blowing in and clearing away the debris that hampers our country. This election will be the beginning. Or can be.

We owe it to ourselves to include every one in the fruits this country offers. When we exclude a human because of the color of their skin we are doing a disservice to the country. When we exclude a human because of their religion we are doing a disservice to our country. When we exclude a human because of their gender identity we are doing a disservice to our country.

Since the first slave was brought to our shores we have lived the life of racists. We have made promises for so many years and have yet to live up to any of them. We have to enable everyone to rise up in this country and make the best life they can. This enabling includes taking care of all of our people. Making health care a right, making voting a right, making sure that those that need it most are taken care of.

It is time to rework our democracy. It cannot survive the coming changes in it’s current form. This means expense. I want those that can succeed to do so. I don’t mind that some have more, much more than others. But as the world changes we as Americans have to change also. That means changes to the way our democracy is enacted. Those that have the most must make some sacrifices to help those who cannot do what it takes to “make it big”. I am not talking about free money for nothing. I am saying that some people have what it takes to make it to the top and some don’t. Those that don’t have that business sense or instinct are still hard working, honest people that aren’t looking for handout. They are looking for help where help is available.

I am lucky, I was born white and will always be white. Those born into families of color have not had the opportunities afforded to me. I don’t consider myself a racist but I certainly have not been anti-racist my entire life. I grew up around people who were fundamentally racists but not outwardly. Little things I heard growing up come back to me now as I learn more and more about anti-racism. This is not to say that everyone around me was racist. There were pockets of people in my circle that were and, in some cases, still are racist. I have to block out those bits of early life. It is my goal to be anti-racist. I am learning, I am listening, I am doing what I can to help.

Electing Joe Biden is not the end all for our country. His election will be a turning point, a transitional presidency. This could be the time when we can look back and say “2020 was the year we began to change the world”. And maybe my grandchildren will be able to live up to the promise of our founding: We The People.
