The Day The Music Died

Yes the phrase has been used before but today it hits home again. Aretha Franklin is gone at age 76. No one before, during or after her will bring such a voice to the world. She lead a tough life. Having lost her mother at 10, giving birth to her first child at 13 and fighting depression, weight issues and other physical problems for most of her adult life, she managed to touch all of us with that voice. She fought for civil rights. Empowered black women to be their best. Now she is gone, the Queen of Soul is gone. All we have left is the recordings and the memories.

And, of course, R.E.S.P.E.C.T.!
